Partner Field Design System

Since 1997, Partner's Field Design System has been the carefully crafted tool for field engineers. Assemblies, map viewing and work order (or "job") information are customized for each client. Field Design streamlines the staking process with the ability to view power distribution maps, create staking sketches and access all the necessary staking job information. Your existing maps display as a smooth background surface on which to work.

Construction assemblies are arranged to allow quick and straightforward location. Illustrations and specifications of assemblies can be included. The Field Design System allows you to easily copy locations or create job templates; it saves time and vests efficiency in the staking process. Used in the field or in the office, the Field Design System eliminates sluggishness from the process of ordering assemblies and drawing sketches.

  • General Features

The ability to integrate with GIS and accounting systems is one of the features that makes the Partner Field Design System so efficient, reducing error, time and miscommunication. No more redrawing, manual data entry, manual calculation or manual job assignments.

GIS Integration

By fully integrating with your GIS, Partner preserves the integrity of your maps. The Field Design System transfers GPS coordinates with no loss of accuracy. All of your utility's existing assembly locations will be at your field engineer's fingertips, allowing them to design quickly and efficiently with minimal time spent hunting down equipment id numbers. GIS integration means that you will not only preserve your existing map data but you can continue to build upon it with incredibly high-accuracy, perhaps reducing, or even eliminating, the need for field inventories. Partner uses the industry-standard Multispeak® interface for integrations with the following GIS vendors: Milsoft WindMilMap, ATS Mapping, CSA Utilitrack, Futura GIS, NISC GIS and Telvent ArcFM™.

Accounting System Integration

The Field Design System integrates with your accounting system to send work orders directly to individual field engineers. Jobs can be automatically created and assigned in the Field Design System, meshing perfectly with your accounting system. This system eliminates manual calculation and data entry, reducing errors and saving time. When a job has been staked, a materials list is automatically sent to your accounting system. Field Engineers can effectively generate cost estimates while in the field with the click of a button. Partner uses a variety of methods to integrate with accounting systems, such as MultiSpeak®, web services, batch XML, SQL, fixed-width and delimited files. We currently integrate with the following accounting vendors: ATS, CSA, NISC, PCS, BIS, Daffron, SEDC and Oracle WAM.

Generating Reports

Though Partner's Field Design System reduces paper dependence, we understand the need to quickly and easily generate paper reports in a print-friendly format. Once a job is complete, several different reports can be generated with one simple action. Partner has different report templates from which to choose, ensuring that your new Partner reports are as similar as possible to your previous versions and perfectly fit your needs. There are also a large variety of report templates available for staking sheets and proposed jobs. In fact, the field engineer can even create a “snapshot” box on any portion of the map, to show partial or full jobs on the staking sheets. This means that a big, complex job can be split up into several smaller, more detailed pictures for reports and that the field engineer can control the zoom level at which the snapshot is taken, making the image as clear as possible. Both a job accounting summary and a cost estimate are generated along with the staking sheet.

GPS Integration

The Field Design System is designed specifically to protect the integrity of your maps and to aid you in adding high accuracy information to your GIS. GPS devices are the surest form of acquiring high-accuracy information in the field, so naturally, the Partner Field Design System integrates with GPS devices. Partner supports both NMEA (standard) and TSIP (Trimble® brand) protocols. In the Field Design System, you can change and apply both generic and device-specific GPS settings.

The number and overhead location of the satellites available to your device are displayed in a section of the Partner Viewer separate from the map. An icon appears on the map showing you the location of your linked GPS device. The maps can be set to follow the GPS device, which allows you to remain linked with Partner and your GPS while driving or walking in search of a location. Through integration with Tri-Global Technologies, LLC., Partner even provides a mobile staking solution with Trimble® GPS devices.

Mobile Staking

By integrating with Tri-Global Technologies, LLC., Partner now offers a solution for organizations that want to replace bulky laptops in the field with a smaller, more portable solution. Tri-Global is a Trimble® GPS device dealer, specializing in high-accuracy GPS solutions. Certain Trimble® devices are GPS field computers with a screen display. These Trimble® devices can run Tri-Global MobileStaker™, which allows field engineers to stake Partner jobs with a handheld GPS. In the same way that your organization's assemblies are displayed in the Partner Field Design System, MobileStaker™ displays your assemblies on your Trimble® device. This allows field engineers to stake jobs with accurate GPS locations and make corrections to the GPS locations of equipment in the field. The job, staked in the field, can be imported onto an office computer that runs the Partner Field Design System. In the convenience of the office, the field engineer can then edit job information, make alterations and print reports.

Structural Analysis

Partner has integrated with SPIDA™Web is the tool that works with the Partner Field Design System to give an in-depth, detailed load analysis of either individual structures within a job or the entire job. SPIDA™Calc operates on tablets, laptops and traditional PCs. Within the SPIDA™Calc window, you can make adjustments to your job without returning to the Partner map. SPIDA™Calc can run analysis on current and previously staked jobs and is very user-friendly. Powerful 3D pole rendering, pole load and clearance evaluations, configurable reporting tools and visual indicators that show pole condition make SPIDA™Calc a deeply comprehensive analysis solution. SPIDA™Calc offers the very best mathematical analysis; it takes into account weight on the poles, wind resistance, line slack, and everything else an engineer would, because it was designed by engineers.
